AWS and

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a leading provider of cloud computer infrastructure, and (SFDC), a global leader in customer relationship management (CRM), recently announced a new partnership that places AWS as SFDC’s preferred cloud infrastructure provider.

In a recent International Business Times article titled “Salesforce (CRM) Chooses Amazon (AMZN) For Cloud Services In $400 Million Deal,” Himanshu Goenka explains the impact of this deal on SFDC’s global CRM services.  Goenka writes that “Salesforce already uses AWS for offering services such as Heroku, SalesforceIQ and Salesforce IoT Cloud, but this marks the first time its core services will reside on another company’s servers.”

In a statement, Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce, said that “there is no public cloud infrastructure provider that is more sophisticated or has more robust enterprise capabilities for supporting the needs of our growing global customer base.”

The move will likely have a positive impact on Salesforce GovCloud and SFDC’s public sector customers, where use of AWS is widespread among government agencies and contractors.
